Many of us are working from home these days, which can come with plenty of challenges. (Even in the best of circumstances.) But just because the days might look different does not mean that we can't make some of them pretty productive!
Here are some of our tips for working from home and making the most of it.
Create a Routine
You may have to create an entirely new routine if you aren't used to working from home, but it can be really important to do so. It's easy to get distracted at home, especially if you're working from a shared space (hello kitchen table) or you don't have a proper desk set up. Creating a workspace that you can enter and exit at the appropriate times is going to make it a lot easier to mentally do the same.
Keep Up the Networking
Just because we can't meet up in person in the midst of COVID-19 and stay-at-home orders, that doesn't mean that we should stop networking. In fact, we'd argue that it's a great time to be doing it virtually. Things will eventually look more "normal" and the connections you make during this time could help ease that transition back. Especially if you'll be looking for work.
In the Renge app you can add details about what you do, as well as offers, and what you're looking for. It makes it easy to connect with likeminded people in similar industries as your own. (Or industries that you'd like to be in!)
Take Breaks When You Need To
Blending our work and home life can create some pressure, especially if we feel like we need to be working certain hours. But taking breaks and resting can be absolutely crucial to keeping our energy up and getting things done. Many would consider this to be uncharted territory that we're in, and adapting to it is all a part of the process.
Step Up the Organization
Staying focused can be a lot easier when you know exactly what you need to do. (And what you don't!) We like making day-to-day or by the week to-do lists, as well as create long term goal lists to keep track of what we're working towards. Refining your goals can help bring clarity to the actionable steps you need to take you towards them, whether it's taking a course or looking for a mentor.
